O agente do Servi\u00e7o de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o aos \u00cdndios (SPI) no rio Maraui\u00e1 denunciou os crimes em quatro missivas enviadas \u00e0s autoridades estaduais e federais em Manaus. Os delitos t\u00eam como pano de fundo a economia pol\u00edtica da borracha, o surgimento do SPI e a explora\u00e7\u00e3o da for\u00e7a de trabalho ind\u00edgena na Amaz\u00f4nia no in\u00edcio do s\u00e9culo XX. Este texto se dedica \u00e0 transcri\u00e7\u00e3o integral e anotada dos quatro documentos, antecedida de uma breve apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de seu conte\u00fado e do contexto em que os crimes ocorreram.<\/p>\n<p>In 1914, in the middle Rio Negro region, many indigenous women were raped and cruelly murdered by a local boss, the merchant Diogo Gon\u00e7alves. The agent of the Indian Protection Service (SPI) on the river Maraui\u00e1, denounced the crimes in four letters sent to state and federal authorities in Manaus. The crimes have the background of the political economy of rubber, the emergence of the SPI, and the exploitation of the indigenous labor force in the Amazon, in the early twentieth century.
