Com base na an\u00e1lise de parte de uma documenta\u00e7\u00e3o hist\u00f3rica para o per\u00edodo, \u00e9 proposto que a aparente convers\u00e3o esconde processos nos quais atuaram n\u00e3o apenas mudan\u00e7as, mas continuidades e cria\u00e7\u00f5es. Se o choque do contato era historicamente inevit\u00e1vel, a pol\u00edtica dos ind\u00edgenas durante o per\u00edodo dos aldeamentos mostrou como esses grupos agiram entre as necessidades das circunst\u00e2ncias e as conting\u00eancias das escolhas. Por isso, no di\u00e1logo entre a Antropologia e a Hist\u00f3ria, o artigo pretende mostrar como essa hist\u00f3ria ind\u00edgena desenhou diferentes rotas e linhas de a\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>This essay addresses the discussion on indigenous politics and contact strategies from a concrete context: settlements of Kayapo groups in Goi\u00e1s between 1781 and 1832. Historical documentation from the period suggests that apparent conversion hides processes involving not only changes, but also continuities and creations. While the shock of contact was historically inevitable, indigenous politics during the settlement period showed how these groups acted, between the needs of the circumstances and the contingencies of their choices.
